David with his family

David Schultz is a Minnesota native who has called St. Paul home for more than twenty years. He is married to Trudi Trysla; they have two boys, Sam and Colin, and a baby girl, Nina. A graduate of Carleton College and Stanford Law School, and a long-time Assistant Attorney General, David currently practices law in a large Minnesota law firm.

A gifted athlete, David played semi-professional baseball in Chicago before going to law school. He has coached his sons’ T-ball and Little League teams and, until his run for county attorney, played catcher in a recreational baseball league every summer. David and Trudi are active as parents in their children’s schools. David and his family enjoy many outdoor activities and, of course, meeting Ramsey County residents!

David Schultz will bring his remarkable record as a trial lawyer to the role of Ramsey County Attorney. David has been prosecuting and defending cases and managing complex litigation for nearly 25 years. Because he spent many years as a public official at the Attorney General’s Office and represented private clients while in a law firm, David knows what it takes to lead an office of trial lawyers and to seek justice in all cases that come before him.
