David recently moderated a panel discussion on high profile white collar criminal cases, including the Tom Petters case. David led a panel including a federal prosecutor, a defense attorney, and a legal ethicist in a discussion of the complexities involved in prosecuting such cases. The Case of Koua Fong Lee

Fong Lee was driving home from church with his family on June 10, 2006. He exited the freeway and slammed into a van stopped at the top of the exit ramp. Two people died at the scene, and a third died later. Koua Fong Lee was charged and convicted of negligent vehicular homicide. Now it appears that Koua Fong Lee’s claim that he was not at fault in the accident may be legitimate. David’s Pro Bono Representation of a Death Row Inmate

David is currently representing a death row inmate for the appeal of his conviction.  The client’s conviction in Texas is being challenged on several fronts, including the representation received in advance and during the trial.  David’s commitment to justice brought him to the border of Texas and Mexico to represent a poor client with only a remedial education because David believes that everyone, regardless of income, education, race, gender, age, or sexual orientation deserves justice. David Fights for Justice for the Family of a Slain Priest

David was approached about representing the family of Father John Kaiser, a Roman Catholic priest, that was found dead in Kenya of gunshots.  Father Kaiser spoke truth to the power of the administration of the then-Kenyan President.  Father Kaiser was in the process of exposing rape charges against a high-ranking government official when he was found dead by the side of the road.  Against long odds, David was able to force the Kenyan government to reopen the case and have Father Kaiser’s death classified as a homicide.  David was driven by … [Read more...]
